Medtechtomarket Welcomes University of Birmingham Collaboration
Chloe Tanner, a research associate and MSc student from the University of Birmingham, has joined us to gain valuable lab experience as we continue our work with the University on tetanus and the Monkeypox virus (mpox).

Chloe will be working closely with Development Project Manager Becca Newman, and our Development Scientist team on two projects: Early-stage feasibility testing of mpox lateral flow strips & ELISA for intended use in Africa, and final verification activities for our tetanus lateral flow test before we start manufacturing validation, and head into V&V.
This current work builds on an already-established relationship with the University of Birmingham to further scientific research in diagnostics and viral infections.
Benefits of University Collaboration
Working closely with academics and universities has mutual benefits; Our involvement allows for projects to be completed in world-class laboratory conditions, and the undergraduate scientists can gain real-world work experience in a professional environment. Chloe has settled in brilliantly and has said about the collaboration,
“It’s great to see the differences between a University lab and a commercial lab. The equipment is amazing and the way the team works together on various scientific projects is really great to see. I’m enjoying my time here and can’t wait to come back to further build upon the collaborative relationship that Medtechtomarket and the University of Birmingham already has.”
